Wonderful Visiting Places in Haridwar

Haridwar, one of the most important centres of pilgrimage for devout Hindus and the  largest city in the District of Haridwar,  lies in the sprawling and stupendously diverse state of Uttarakhand.    The River Ganges, after flowing for 253 kilometres  from its source at Gaumukh at the edge of the Gangotri Glacier, enters the Indo-Gangetic Plains of North India for the first time at Haridwar, which gave the city its ancient name, Gangadwára.

Ensconced  within the aesthetic environs of strategically located Hotels in Haridwar, with all modern amenities, including air conditioning, running hot and cold water,  televisions, telephones etc. provided without disturbing the original set-up of rooms of erstwhile royal residences of the Maharajas of Pilibhit, now innovatively renovated and refurbished, and with facilities for Yoga, holistic health pursuits and culinary considerations, explore the many wonderful sacred sites here.

There are many Visiting places in Haridwar that reflect the divinity of the culture and traditions in this holy city.    Har ki Pauri, or popularly known as Brahmakund, situated just 300 to 400 meters away from the hotels, is among the most sacred ghats in Haridwar!   Thousands of visitors and devotees come here religiously and light lamps and float them in the River Ganga, creating a truly splendid spectacle.

The Mansa Devi Temple, atop Bilwa Parwat, accessible by brightly coloured Ropeway, the Sapt Rishi Ashram and Sapt Sarovar, where the seven rishis meditated, the ancient Mayadevi Temple dedicated to this Adhisthatri deity of Haridwar, and many other temples abound, culminating in the awesome evening “Aarti”, which leaves one spellbound!
